Our Unique Honey

The benefits of Elvish honey

Turkish Elvish Honey is the most energy-dense unprocessed food in nature. It contains certain vitamins and minerals, and according to some studies, it has healing and antibacterial properties, but these are its fundamental properties.

Primary Sweetener

Above all its properties, it's worth noting that 99% of honey is a solution of fructose and glucose. Before the extraction of sugar from sugarcane and other roots, tubers, and foods became standardized, honey was the only natural sweetener. This means that honey is a natural competitor to refined sugar.

High Enzyme Content

Due to its components, such as peptides and enzymes (diastase, amylase, catalase, diaphorase, lactic acid dehydrogenase, phosphatase, and glucose oxidase), honey, in addition to serving as a sweetener, helps in the formation of proteins in our bodies.

Relieves Coughs and Sore Throats

Thanks to its antibacterial properties, it may also help fight some infections. In addition, honey is recognized as a natural remedy for coughs (however, it is not recommended for children under one year old).

It is also true that honey contains vitamins A, D, E, B1, C, K, choline, as well as sodium, potassium, magnesium, calcium, aluminum, iron, copper, zinc, manganese, lead, silica, phosphorus, chlorine, and sulfur, but the proportions are so small that you would need to eat large quantities of honey for the intake to be significant.

Benefits of Elvish honey versus adulterated honey

Unfortunately, the honey we usually see in supermarkets is refined. Additives (water and sugars) are added to reduce production costs, but in doing so, a large part of the nutrients are lost. The truth is that honey is a food that can be consumed immediately after harvesting, but unfortunately, before it is sold, non-organic companies usually process it to filter out impurities. Most of the minerals, vitamins, and enzymes in honey come from the pollen it contains. Refining honey removes the pollen, turning it into simple liquid sugar. While this may make the honey look more appealing, the enzymes and antioxidants are lost, leaving it as a mere sweetener.

How can you tell if honey is pure or adulterated?

The first step is to check the ingredients on the label. If high-fructose corn syrup or commercial glucose is listed, the honey has been adulterated.

If you want to test it at home, you can use this method: place a spoonful of honey in a glass of water without stirring. If it dissolves, it's not pure. Natural honey will remain solid when submerged in water.

Another way to tell if it's an organic product is to check if it has been stored for a while, as genuine honey tends to crystallize. Crystallized honey is completely natural and, in some cases, is even used to create other derivative products.

If, in addition to choosing pure honey over adulterated honey, you want to go a step further, here are the key characteristics of organic honey.

Organic honey is obtained from flowers in fields certified as organic and following the protocol required by organic beekeeping. The controls that the certifying company carries out on the bees, the environment where they work, the honey, and the wax ensure that the honey we obtain from these hives is Certified Organic Honey.

In organic beekeeping, chemicals such as pesticides and fertilizers are not used on either the insects or the vegetation near the hives. Genetic modification is also prohibited.
